Interreg VI-A Greater Region · A more social Greater Region

Test humanoid robotics, discover the potential

Skills shortages in industry, crafts, logistics and care? Humanoid robotics may be part of the answer. Come and try it here – without a vendor lens, close to practice, and with training modules for your organisation.

How do you realistically judge capabilities, safety requirements and possible applications? HARMONI is building an open, neutral infrastructure for exactly that in the Greater Region: five hubs in four countries, usable across borders, with hands-on tests, independent assessment and matching training – so you can decide on solid ground.

HARMONI is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg Greater Region 2021–2027 programme. About €2.49 million total budget, 60 % of it from the European Regional Development Fund. Duration: 1 August 2026 to 31 October 2028.

The project in numbers

  • 5hubs, usable across national borders
  • 4countries: Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg
  • 27months, until 31 October 2028
  • about €2.49 mtotal budget, 60 % of it from EU funds

Where

Five sites – five focus areas

An aligned infrastructure that avoids duplicate investment and keeps travel short for companies and education providers. The equipment is spread across the Greater Region but coordinated – and usable across national borders. Each site offers tailored demonstration and qualification solutions.

  • DE · Rhineland-Palatinate Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld Circular economy and laboratory processes. Trier University of Applied Sciences, project management.
  • DE · Saarland ZeMA Automotive and assembly. Saarbrücken.
  • FR · Grand Est I2L Logistics and digital twin. Metz.
  • BE · Wallonia Technifutur Digital twin, education and training. Seraing.
  • LU University of Luxembourg Sensors, artificial intelligence and optimisation. Esch-sur-Alzette.

What we want to achieve

Three goals

Assess without a vendor lens

A shared assessment framework and a white paper make performance, limitations and safety requirements comparable – independently of the manufacturer.

Pass on knowledge

Standardised teaching and training modules that education providers can adopt, and the Robot Compass as a free self-service offer.

Work together across borders

Five institutions pool competences and test environments that none could build alone – and make them jointly usable.
