The project
HARMONI – a network for humanoid robotics in the Greater Region
Understand and use humanoid robotics: vendor-independent testing and learning offers – hands-on, networked and accessible, at five sites in four countries.
The shared challenge
Why HARMONI is needed
Across the Greater Region, skills shortages are intensifying in every sector – industry, crafts, logistics and care. At the same time the trend towards “physical AI” is accelerating, humanoid robotics in particular. Such systems could take on environments designed for people, and thus change not only processes but qualifications and education as well.
Yet there is currently no robust, vendor-independent basis for judging capabilities, safety requirements and sensible applications. Companies and education providers therefore have no reliable ground for an investment decision.
Main objective
What HARMONI delivers
HARMONI creates vendor-neutral know-how and a networked infrastructure for humanoid robotics in the Greater Region. The technology is thus integrated into education and training and made accessible through the Robot Compass.
The change: a lack of transparency is replaced by standardised competence, testing and learning offers. Success is measured by the usable infrastructure and by the teaching and training modules developed.
Approach
Three pillars
1 · Build the infrastructure
A vendor-neutral, distributed testing and learning infrastructure is built step by step – from market analysis through system integration to a demonstration environment ready for use. That makes safe, reproducible operation possible, comparable across sites.
2 · Develop training materials
A requirements analysis and a curriculum produce digital learning content with a uniform structure. The Robot Compass offers it as a self-service option for learning, testing and finding information independently.
3 · Connect and make visible
Training courses, summer schools and a roadshow at the five sites make the technology tangible. At the same time, exchange with practice partners supports durability in the region.
The cross-border approach
Why only together?
Critical mass: only pooling complementary competences and test environments creates the basis for standardised, comparable and broadly usable education and transfer offers. A single institution could neither cover the range of sectors nor provide enough systems for vendor-neutral comparison.
Networked, not isolated: the infrastructure is spread across four countries but aligned – duplicate investment is avoided, and procurement, training and transfer are carried jointly. Someone based in Trier can use the focus area in Metz, and the other way round. At the same time the project addresses the working and learning realities of the border areas through harmonised qualification modules.
Building on experience: the consortium builds on existing cooperation structures and Interreg experience, including GreenFab and the active networks of the Robotix Academy.
Offers
What we offer you
For companies, education providers and learners: discover what HARMONI offers you – practical solutions, training and infrastructure – and when they become available. Stay tuned, because the offer grows with the project.
When you can use what: the offers are built step by step. No need to wait: do you already have a concrete question? Write to us – we are glad to share reliable interim findings.
For companies
Test humanoid robotics, decide with confidence
Your question: can humanoid robotics support your processes – in handling, order picking, transport, assembly or laboratory routine?
- Experience demonstrators: at five sites you test systems in realistic environments – and see directly what works and what does not.
- Vendor-neutral assessment: a standardised assessment framework makes performance, limitations and safety requirements comparable – independently of the manufacturer.
- Practical use cases: sector-specific guides for logistics, crafts, automotive and care.
- Qualification for your team: training modules that fit into your in-house continuing education.
- A strong network: access to suppliers, equipment providers and system integrators from four countries.
For education providers
Robotics education, simply delivered
- Vendor-independent content: a robust basis for designing robotics education that is didactically consistent and close to the labour market – without depending on single suppliers or pilot projects.
- Flexible teaching modules: standardised training and teaching blocks with a uniform structure, metadata and keywords – made to fit into existing curricula.
- Practical qualification: formats for teaching staff – you get to know the systems before you teach them.
- Robot Compass: a free self-service offer complementing classroom teaching – with no institutional ties.
- Cross-border summer schools: hands-on learning for your participants – connected across national borders.
For learners
Free of charge, and you can start right away
The Robot Compass offers free self-service learning content – independent of institution, place of residence or work, and usable online at any time.
- Without registration: read and learn straight away.
- Register free of charge: save your progress and receive a certificate of participation after completing a module.
- German and French: all content is available in both languages.
- Beyond the project: the platform stays, and the self-service content developed remains free.
Events
When you can meet us
The first dates are not fixed yet. As soon as training courses, summer schools and roadshow stops are planned, you will find them here with date, place, language and how to register. If you do not want to miss anything, write to us – we will let you know once it starts.
- Date being planned Training course A compact course at one of the five sites. For company and teaching staff · German or French
- Date being planned Summer school A multi-day, cross-border format with participants from several countries. For students and learners · bilingual
- Date being planned Roadshow A demonstration and transfer event – the systems come to where you are. For companies and education providers · German or French
In which language? Every date states the language of the event. Events run in German or French, sometimes both; learning material exists in both languages. If you are unsure whether a date suits you, ask us – we will find a way.
Results
What will be available to download
Nothing is available for download yet – the project is in its first year. Planned are a requirements and market report, a vendor-neutral assessment framework, a white paper on sector-specific use cases, and the teaching and training modules. As soon as something is finished, you will find it here.
